Everything You Need To Know About Time Trials – June 8th
REMEMBER TO SIGN OUT BY 7PM WEDNESDAY – otherwise coaches will assume you plan on swimming and put you into the line-ups. Don’t be a no show! (And don’t let us run out of pizza – more on that below!)
Time Trials runs just like a regular home meet, which means swimmer arrival time is 4pm with warm-ups beginning as soon as at 4:20pm. Even though there is no opposing team, we will have all of our A&B swimmers so there will be many heats of each event. That said, there are no relays and no individual medley or butterfly for any age group.
For “What You Need To Know About Swim Meets” please read pages 6-8 in the Orca Parent Handbook! [insert website link here??] http://edgebrookorcas.com/orcas-handbook/
Time Trials is a great time for swimmers and families to figure out how it all goes. It is also the time for our coaches to see the swimmers, record their times (be sure to read about “Rainbow Ribbons” on page 8), and begin the process of A&B Meet line-ups (see page 6).
Time Trials is also a “dress rehearsal” for our volunteers. SuperMeets identifies the arrival time for each volunteer position. Did you know that it takes 48 volunteers, overseen by 9 season-long chair positions to run every home meet?!! We all need to work the kinks out in a casual, friendly, family-like atmosphere before the dual meet season officially begins next week.
TIME TRIALS PIZZA PARTY – every Orca swimmer on our team roster gets a free pizza meal (big piece of Costco pizza, carrots or banana, drink, and dessert). Friends and families can purchase $5 meals. We’ll begin serving in the cabana at 5:30pm. At 7:30pm hot chocolate and coffee sales will be available – and if it feels like summer, ice cream bars!
Don’t forget to Sign-out before Wednesday, June 7th if you are not planning to attend.
